Meet Emma

I'm Emma (she/her), a Feminist Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I've worked as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist for over 8 years and I'm passionate about working with women and helping them to find a bit more peace in the the world.
With a background in teaching and support roles, I worked for over 15 years in schools, colleges, hostels for homeless women, youth services and in family support roles. I trained as a counsellor because I believe that having good mental health is the key to a being able to have a fulfilled and meaningful life.
I have experience of working in an NHS, IAPT (Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies) counselling service. I decided to work as a private counsellor so that I can give my clients the freedom to work through things in their own way, at their own pace.
I still love teaching and am a part-time lecturer on the Masters in Clinical Counselling at the University of Chester. I am also completing a PhD in Counselling and Psychotherapy, my feminist research looks at societal discourses of Maternal Mental Health in the UK and the way that they impact recovery.
I am an Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). The BACP is a professional body in the UK for Counselling and Psychotherapy. As an Accredited member I have demonstrated to the BACP that I adhere to their ethical guidelines and have met their higher standard of ethical and competent practice.
